My experience with sports communication originated in high school where I was the editor for the school newspaper's sports section. This experience, which consisted of interviewing athletes and producing the layout for the paper's sports pages, led to the realization that I wanted to pursue a career in sports media. Once in college, I accepted an internship with the Athletic Director of Academics where I shadowed media relations at a Coastal Carolina basketball and baseball game. On top of acquiring useful knowledge about the role of media relations during live NCAA sporting events, I was also introduced to the head of the Chanticleer Sports Network who later offered me a position with the digital team. My time with the network was one of the most fulfilling and rewarding experiences. While I primarily did graphics, I also directed two baseball games during the 2023 season. It was during this time that I found my passion for sports production.
